Psalm 89:15 – “Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise…”

Reflection: “You have exceeded the limit of password attempts and your account has now been locked.” I was trying to sign in to a retirement account that I had not used in a while, and I was sure that I remembered the password. My three tries were unsuccessful, and now I could not make the fund transfer that I wanted. It took several phone calls and much time spent on hold before I was able to set up new access. Finally, I was able to complete my business, but I was frustrated and tired, and angry that I had wasted so much time. How much easier this task would have been if I had just used the correct password at the start.

I look at my regular daily activities much the same way. Starting my day off without time spent with God, praising and worshiping him, is like trying to use a computer program without the correct password. Focusing on him and his plan for my life is so much more beneficial than struggling to do things on my own, and usually making things worse. Errors and frustrations can be avoided (or at least decreased) by starting my day in praise for his love for me.

Prayer: Dear Father, help me to use the correct passwords at the start of each day – passwords of praise and thanksgiving, faith, and devotion, and allow you to open the doors and windows that are best for me each day. Help me to put you first in my life. Amen.
