Matthew 6:26 – “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” |
We rode out a windy storm in our interior bathroom. But there were birds doing so in trees. Squirrels also. I imagined it from their perspective. Say, a mother mockingbird sitting in her nest covering her young with her wings. Imagine that limb she is on breaking loose. And her hatchlings falling to the ground in the black darkness of the morning. A sick feeling would run through any mother, any father.
Where we nest can be a critical decision. Birds choose locations out of reach from some predators. But not all. How do you ride out a wind storm in a tree? We are like that. Living out a windstorm in the boughs of a big tree. We will lose that battle. All of us are headed for a dead end. So, what’s next is the most important question.
I need to ponder that. Father in heaven, help me to consider my life in this temporary shelter, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
