Matthew 8:17 – “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” |
Another translation would be: “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.” Jesus Christ dealt with sin, sickness and death when He made atonement for us. His death bruised Satan’s head and broke the power of sin. We only have a short while left to contend with it all.
Those of us who trust in Christ’s atoning work are rescued from God’s punishment and one day will have complete physical healing with liberation from all suffering, sin and death. The ultimate good news about forgiveness now is that we have an everlasting future of perfect health in every way – Physical, Spiritual, Mental, Emotional and Intellectual. There’s no financial need, because as God’s children, we are His heirs. We will have everything!
It is hard to understand why people reject the One who has healed every sort of affliction. Maybe some people just don’t want to part with their sin. I find it more incredulous that there is resistance and rejection to His holiness, power and kindness! When the blind man was questioned about who healed him, he replied, “it is an amazing thing that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes…Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.”
Jesus is humanly unexplainable. In every way, Jesus is nothing short of amazing and mighty! He is willing to adopt all of us who believe in Him, and give us for eternity the perfect life that we all long for.
