Jude 1:3-4 – “…contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints…For certain men have crept in unnoticed…ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.” |
A very real danger to the church is false teaching from ‘spiritual’ pretenders inside the church. Because of these people there are many spiritual losses and eternal consequences. We are warned to stay vigilant against these false teachers. If you wonder how you might know a false teacher, Jesus said we will know them by their fruits. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Paul warns us in Ephesians that there will be savage wolves who will come in among you, not sparing the flock…speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be on the alert! It is our responsibility to read the Scripture and find out for ourselves what the truth is. We will all be held accountable for the decisions we make and the actions we take. Although we are forgiven for the wrongs we do when we are in Christ, we must know for sure that we are actually in Christ by reading His Word. It is important that we do not go to a church or hold to a belief just because it tickles our ears, or it sounds ‘politically correct.’ We are sure to end up in real trouble with our soul when we rely on ourselves for knowing right from wrong. Read your Bible and know for yourself what truth is so as not to place your soul in eternal harms way by following a false teacher. We may be rocking along thinking we are good people, yet unknowingly be living in direct disobedience to the Lord, because we have not picked up the Bible to see for ourselves what the Lord has said once for all. Do not be deceived, there are false teachers in leadership roles that have misguided many souls. Yes, the Lord will hold them accountable for misleading, and He will hold me and you accountable if we choose to follow them. Know your Bible. Read it. I know that I have said it before, I have an Amazon Alexa in my bedroom, and say “Alexa read me the Bible” as I am getting ready in the morning, and as I’m getting ready for bed. It’s an easy listen to the Bible all the way through, and it is much more uplifting than the news! As you are listening, talk to the Lord about what you are hearing, and about what you are thinking. Have your Bible close by, because you will hear things that will motivate you to see it in the Bible for yourself. This will help you stay focused on what is important every day. In order to know a false teacher, you must know Jesus. If you know your Bible, you will know Jesus, and the truth of Jesus will set you free!
