Philippians 2:13 – “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” |
Yesterday, we gathered the family at our house. Mary Linda had fixed a ham, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, a pineapple dish (delicious), and crescent rolls. Good food is a good way of getting them to come. Our grandson and several of us were playing with the beanie babies we collected 30 years ago, when our sons were small. Little Sage, now a month old, was experiencing us as well. After dinner, we were chatting around the dinner table, and we saw our neighbor, Sandy, walking by. She just lost her husband, and I wanted to invite her in. I hurried to the front door and pulled it open. She was about to knock. “Come on in.” She seemed in need of some friendly faces. She chatted. “Sandy, come see Sage.” She came in the den and met our newest family member. We all sat down and Sandy was playing with Milo and his dinosaurs. After a few minutes, Sandy asked “Milo, would you get me a Kleenex? I started to get up and show him where they were. “No, Jeff. I want Milo to get it. Again she asked. “Milo, would you get me a Kleenex?” This time Grant started to get up and help him do it. “No, Grant, not you. I want Milo to get it.” Once again she asked. “Milo, would you get me a Kleenex?” By now he is tuned in. Mary Linda told him “The Kleenex are in the bathroom, behind the door.” He ran off down the hall and out of sight around the corner. We all waited patiently, wondering what he would bring her. He is not quite 3 years old. In less than a minute, here he came with her Kleenex. We all clapped and praised him. All we needed was a little faith in him. Sandy credited him with her faith, and he delivered. Many times our children are waiting for their chance. Father in heaven, thank You for living in us so that we are able to give You what You ask for! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
