Psalms 44:26 – “Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love.” |
Have you ever felt like you are doing all the right things and trouble still comes knocking at the door? Reading Psalms 44 reminds me of days when I am feeling defeated and still trying to do what is right.
It is easy for me to focus on all the bad that is happening, and it can seem like God has forgotten me or is asleep and not aware of what is happening. But God never sleeps, and He is fully aware of all that we go through.
Reading verses 2-3 tells me how God delivered past generations, and is a reminder of what He has done for me in the past, as well. He brought me out of a lot of tough situations and has defeated my enemies. It wasn’t by my own strength or my good deeds that got me out, but by His powerful hand, mercy, and love.
When we do have those moments of feeling defeated and isolated in our sorrows, we are not being deserted or punished by God. The more we feel crushed, the more we should lean into Him. Verse 26 tells us to cry out to God to rescue us because we can rely on his “unfailing love” despite the trouble that has us oppressed.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for your “unfailing love”. You have not failed us or forsaken us. Please restore our peace and assurance that you will always come to our rescue. In Jesus name, Amen.
