John 8:44 – “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” |
To catch fish, you have to deceive them. With lures or live bait on a hook. They don’t realize they are in danger. They think they have found their next meal. And it is so short lived. Before it hits their gut, they know something has seriously gone sour. And try as they might, it is only a matter of time before they are a fish out of water. And that is not good for the fish. A few days ago, someone liked one of my posts. Turns out she was not wearing “enough” in the way of clothing. I blocked her. I was like the fish, seeing that worm wriggling on the hook. Satan is not stupid. He does not sleep. He knows me so well. He knows what kind of lure to use. He knows what bait works best on me. I won’t kid you, it has worked on me in the past. That is why it is his “go to”. And it was not easy for me to just swim away. I don’t want to go back where I was ever again. One thing I remind myself of. Satan is a liar. More than that. He is the father of lies. On the other hand, it is impossible for God to lie. So, when it comes to choosing roads on which to travel, am I going to swallow Satan’s “help” or listen to God’s advice? How much do I trust him? Enough to heed what He says? Father in heaven, help us to escape the snares of the devil, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
