Luke 19:10 – “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” |
Today, I am prepping a walk-in closet to be painted. It is time to refresh it, to put it mildly. I was emptying it out, and found a post it note that my wife wrote a little “love message” on. I can’t throw it away. Call me sentimental, but it doesn’t belong in a trash can. I can’t let that happen. So, I put it in a medium size box full of notes, cards and letters from friends. Encouraging words! It would take me a month to read through them all.
I have the very first greeting card my wife gave me (soon after we began dating). Notes from our sons and daughter-in-law. Father’s Day cards, birthday cards, Valentine’s Day cards. Get well cards. We will miss you cards from fellow employees I left behind. You name it.
Some day, our children may have to throw that box out, but I don’t think it will be me that does it. My life is in that box. And (I pray not), if I have to go to memory care, I will need that box, for my reminders of my past life are in there. I pray that I can hang on to my memory all my days.
Father in heaven, thank You for Your message of love written on the pages of the Bible, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
