|Matthew 7:25 – “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
My wife had been out for her walk around the neighborhood. She was coming in the back gate, and as she unlatched it and grabbed it to pull it open, two wasps stung her hands. She put ice on the bites within minutes, and the next day, her hand looked pretty normal.
I inquired of her about where she had stuck her hand. She showed me, (without actually sticking her hand in there”). I got a dental mirror on a stick and could see that between the slats was a nice sized wasp nest, and several sitting on it. I got the killer spray and shot them good. Then I knocked the nest off of the gate. There is a hollow space between the inner and outer slats on our fence. Anyway, they shouldn’t bother her again for a while.
It makes a difference where you set up housekeeping to raise a family. Birds take their time selecting just the right place to build a nest. They want it to be safe and “just right” for raising their young. I know some have had their houses bombed because they happened to be living in a war zone. Some have homes destroyed by hurricane, some by tornado, flood, mudslide, forest fires, and hail. A friend had his car destroyed recently by hail. We live in a volatile world. What can we do? There is a song we sometimes sing. “This world is not my home I’m just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.” Jesus advised us. “Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust corrupt and where thieves break in and steal.” Father in heaven, help us to build our house on the rock solid foundation, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
