John 14:3 – “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” |
Most of us deal with unmet expectations every day. They can be as simple as the weather not fitting the forecast or as startling as going to work and finding our job will be eliminated.
Unmet expectations occur in relationships as well. A child might want their parent to ‘figure out’ the child is afraid or uncomfortable without telling the parent out loud about their concerns. An older parent may be disappointed when their adult child does not stay in touch or visit as often as the parent expects. We all know what disappointments feels like. Not good.
Events and activities don’t live up to our expectations often. People, even people who love you, let you down at times. However, God is the same today as yesterday and will be the same tomorrow and forever! We have the assurance that Jesus has prepared a place for us to be with Him after this world! When we know God and trust Jesus, what is promised is beyond what is possible for us to expect.
