| Psalm 143:8 – “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” |
Our alarm goes off and we wearily open our eyes to face another day. What is our attitude as we stretch and yawn? We can either smile and say, “Good morning, Lord!” or grumble and mumble “Good Lord, morning?” Our initial thoughts can play a big part in our actions and interactions during the day. Some people stumble into the kitchen for a steaming cup of coffee, others head first to the shower. I keep a small journal next to my bed where I have promises listed along with a brief morning prayer to aid in reminding me of God’s faithfulness and His willingness to help me throughout my day. I find peace not by scrolling through social media or watching the morning news but by starting my day in quiet reflection and praise. These practices help me focus on Him as challenges arise during the day.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for another night of rest, and for waking me this morning. Great is your faithfulness to me. Thank you for the many blessings you have so freely given to me. Go with me today as I meet others at work or at play. Guide my conversations and my footsteps as I seek to be your hands, feet, and voice in the world today. Amen
