Revelation 21:4 – “And God will wipe away every tear from their eye, there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” |
This past Monday after work, I spent 20 minutes pulling what I call “carrot weed” from our front yard. It has taken over our yard, killing the grass. The next day I counted 25 chigger bites. It rained that day, and I picked a bad time to work in the yard. Our yard was treated with pesticide for chiggers about 3 weeks ago. Our exterminator tells us rain negates the effect of it. Chiggers are a pest.
Many times, I’ve thought that I would not want to be a horse, as they have to deal with horseflies. I was a lifeguard at Camp Rock Creek in Norman, Oklahoma one summer, and I must have killed a ‘hunnerd’ horseflies. Makes me feel sorry for horses. But as a human being, I have to deal with chiggers that love me. I wish they did not! When I was about 7, we picked my dad up to take him home from National Guard maneuvers. They spent some time out in the weeds crawling around. He got in the car, removed his boots, and pulled his socks down. His ankles were covered in chigger bites. The dreaded pest.
I take it as part of our curse from God in the garden of Eden. Part of the sweating to bring forth the produce of the land and dealing with weeds and pests. One nice thing about heaven… No chiggers. Makes me love it more. Father in heaven, thank You for preparing a WONDERFUL place, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
