Let Go of the Wheel

Psalm 32:8 – “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.”

When I think about allowing Jesus to take the wheel and have control, I find it hard to let go and be the passenger. When we are going through toil in our lives, whether it be with our health, finance or anything else, we want to fix it ourselves. I am as much at fault as the next person.

We need to pray and hand it over to the Lord, instead of treating the Lord as a spare tire or an emergency brake. So, when do you use a spare tire? When your tire is flat and you have no other choice. Let’s make the choice in the beginning to hand it over to God and let Him be our answer. (Philippians 4:6-7 TPT Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude.)

I was in a car accident that almost took my life back in 1998. I was very active with my children and worked two jobs. I did home health and worked at a party store at night. Then I would go to the school for my lunch hour and read books with the kids, and I coached two basketball teams. Not to brag but we were undefeated. 🙂

Then my accident happened and I was unable to do the things I used to do. I felt helpless at 30 years old with a walker, a shower chair and a traumatic brain injury. I tried to take the steering wheel and depression snuck in. Things weren’t getting better. Once I realized I needed to let the Lord take control, I started to gain momentum and strength. Don’t get me wrong, it was a long road to recovery, but I now work and help with the grandkids. God is so Good, and He loves to be the driver. Let him take the steering wheel so that you will see a successful outcome.

Prayer:

Jesus, I repent for keeping my hands on the wheel. I know that I need to give you control over every area, my health, my finances, or whatever I may be toiling over. You will lead me to overcome every situation. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your guidance. Amen
