This resonated with me so much today. The phrase ‘words matter’ has been on my heart lately and I have had to make a conscious effort to be more intentional with the choice of words I am speaking.
However, I completely forgot about myself. Why do our words matter? Because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And the things I caught myself saying both consciously and subconsciously revealed the health of my heart. Yuck. The ability to speak, a gift from Him. And what do I choose to do with my gift? Double yuck. I find myself mumbling about all the things I’ll never get done or be. I’ll never get the house fixed up or I’ll never get caught up with chores. I’ll never do this or that. I’ll never be this or that. Ugh.
Kindness, grace and compassion for others- absolutely! Why do I disqualify myself from that? Well, I told that little voice to shut it down today. I said it out loud and I felt a tinge of embarrassment even though there was no one around me. And then I had to bring the truth forward and make my words come into alignment with God’s.
Be kind to yourself. Get aware of your ‘never’ monologue and shut down the little voice that criticizes. Our creator gets the say of who we are and He does so joyfully. Believe it. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, bought at a price.
