Danger – Psalm 7:1-5,17

Danger
Warning sign. Danger thin ice.
Psalm 7:1-5,17 – “Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands-if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe–then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. ….I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.”

I love Psalms. It is one of my favorite books of the Bible because it is so beautiful. It seems in chapter 7 that David is sort of stirring up God. Seems he is really wanting a response from God. Don’t we all?

We also see in Psalms 7 that God gives sinners warning of their danger, and space to repent, and prevent it. He is slow to punish, and long-suffering, not willing that any should perish. This is true in a sense for all sinners. Let us look to the Savior under all our trials. He is our only hope of eternal life.

Prayer: Blessed Lord, give us grace to look to you in the path of tribulation, going before thy people, and marking the way by your own spotless example. Under all the persecutions which in our lesser trials mark our way, let the looking to Jesus animate our minds and comfort our hearts. Amen!
