Magnify the Lord – Psalm 34:3

Psalm 34:3 – “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.”

Years ago I attended a church where the pastor’s frequent prayer before delivering the sermon was “For us to see less of him and more of the LORD.” In other words, his desire was for the LORD to be magnified.

My former pastor’s prayer has numerous applications beyond a Sunday morning sermon. One of those applications involves what would happen if we chose to magnify the LORD instead of focusing on our problems? Our thoughts would shift from all that is wrong to the One whose power is unrivaled.

The darkness trying to entomb us would retreat in His brilliant light. Our fears would be dwarfed by Him in whom nothing is impossible. Choosing to magnify the LORD instead of our problems can bring us an abundance of peace, protection, and provision.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for being our source of peace, protection and provision. Help us to remember to magnify You during both the mundane and turbulent seasons of our lives. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
