The Crown – James 1:12

The Crown
antique silver crown with gemstones on black
James 1:12 – ‘ Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.’

Blessed means profound inner joy and satisfaction, one that only the Lord can give to those faithfully enduring trial.

Our making it to heaven is all that really matters! Do you feel like things are falling apart around you? Stay faithful even under the severest of trial! God approves of our faithfulness, and He will give us the crown of life!

This verse is so exciting. The term ‘crown’ is borrowed from athletic events which the winner receives a wreath on their head symbolizing ‘persevering triumph’. Faithful perseverance under trial is evidence of our love for God.

He has promised us the crown of life when we are determined to be faithfully obedient up until death.

Throw off everything that hinders you, and the sin that so easily entangles you. Run with perseverance the race marked out for you! Our crown marks the pinnacle of success, freely offered to those of us in Jesus Christ!
