| Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” |
I hate to worry! I can’t find peace, it entangles my spirit, it makes me anxious, nervous, uneasy and basically lacking joy! It’s like being at war within myself! God does not want that for any of us. It’s spiritually and physically unhealthy! So, He tells us how to avoid being entrenched in this terrible feeling?
First things first- I talk to the Lord! I tell Him everything I know about Him! I remind Him (I’m really just reminding myself) of promises that He makes in the Scripture, like “He cares for me! He helps the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He will not give us more than we can handle, He provides all that we need! He is my heavenly Father Who loves His children and keeps every promise He makes! He is All Powerful and works ALL things to good for those that love Him. The righteous man falls seven times and gets right back up, He is my strength and He forgives me! We are here for such a short time compared to eternity. Jesus makes it abundantly clear that these trials are nothing compared to the joy we will have forever if we hold to our faith in Him!
Secondly, I get any bad behavior immediately in order to ensure that I am not in the process of being disciplined from God! He has a way of forcing us to recognize our dependence on Him if we want to be at peace. Peace is a gift, and it comes directly from God!
Lastly, I ask the Lord for what I need or want, as I gratefully thank Him for all He has done, is doing and will do. I trust him wholeheartedly, because every time I follow His instructions, things work out exactly as He says they will!
BOOM!! Did what he said, and I’m at peace! It surpasses all understanding! It’s nothing short of miraculous and is a reality of life!
If you’ve never tried this, I encourage you to! Being at peace within is a marvelous gift from Jesus!
