Psalm 85:10-11 – “Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.”
Today’s text poetically describes a place where many of us long to be. What a place where love, faithfulness, righteousness and peace all intersect! Although we anticipate this may be what it is like in Heaven, throughout Psalm 85 there are hints of how to strive for this while still living on earth.
First, numerous verses remind us of several of His attributes. As we express gratitude to the LORD for being the One who can restore, forgive, save, and revive us, we can experience His love, faithfulness, righteousness and peace.
Additionally, we can choose to listen and stay close to Him. This entails remaining steadfast in our faith and trust in Him. Such actions can keep us in a secure place instead of being tempted to return to folly (Verse 8). Avoiding folly includes choosing not to get discouraged or distracted by circumstances, but instead to remain firm in our belief that He is a good God and a giver of good things in His perfect timing.
