| Matthew 5:9 – “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” |
The other day, I took offense to a response someone gave me. I found it irritating! It’s easy to get riled up when someone mistreats us and to return the gesture with a piece of our mind. Or, when someone offends us, it is easy to garner support by gossiping to others about the offense, as we infer what a rotten person the offender is! How many times have we lost sleep by rehearsing the offense in our mind over and over as we dwell on the negativity.
Ain’t nobody got time for that! God has a plan for this scenario. A plan that will keep us at peace without losing sleep over these kinds of things.
We can learn a lot from God as He is the ultimate peacemaker. After all, He proved it when He sent Jesus to die on the cross so that we could be forgiven and live in peace with Him! Those who reflect God’s nature of love and forgiveness, are called sons of God. Avoid being rude and disrespectful, but instead be kind and tenderhearted, treating one another in the way we wish to be treated. That will eliminate plenty of strife in our life!
When I am the one who has been offended, I can’t help but be reminded that God says He forgives me in the same way that I forgive others. For me, that’s a no brainer – Just wipe the slate clean! Forgive others the way we want God to forgive us. Just do it!
When our life on this earth draws to a close, we will be able to look back at our years with family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances with a life having been filled with peace, harmony and joy. We can be assured that this world was a better place because we were in it. Yes, just forgive those who have offended us and let God handle the rest.
