Life was about to become very different for the Israelites. They were soon to trek into the Promised Land after 400 years of slavery and an additional 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. Although it was an eagerly anticipated new season, it also was one of uncertainty because they were leaving all that was familiar behind and stepping into the unknown.
Thousands of years later, when a new season starts, we too are thrust into unknown territory. This includes joyful transitions such as becoming a first-time parent or starting a new career. It may also include difficult ones such as receiving an unsettling medical diagnosis, death of a loved one, divorce, or an unexpected financial difficulty. Traversing through unknown territory raises a variety of questions. Many of these are related to concerns about having adequate resources, time, energy and knowledge to move forward successfully.
However, just as the LORD promised the Israelites all those years ago, He will go before us and stay with us when we are journeying into unknown territory. Knowing this helps our concerns evaporate and move forward with confidence and peace.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your promise to never leave or forsake us when we venture into unknown territory. Help us to keep our focus on You when facing uncertainty. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
