During the years I worked as a nurse, I spent considerable time in anterooms. This is where I would put on personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gowns, and gloves before entering the room of a patient with a contagious disease. After administering patient care, I would return to remove my PPE and wash my hands before encountering any other patients or staff.
Throughout my nursing career, I carefully adhered to this practice. Failure to spend time in the anteroom could have been harmful to patients, staff and myself.
What I have learned so well as a nurse has implications for all of us when facing difficulties. During such times it is not an anteroom we need to go to, but the fortified tower provided by the LORD. Pausing to pray and seek Him allows Him to equip us to navigate through a challenging situation. Once the crisis has passed, choosing to linger in His presence helps to calm and redirect us, so we can serve as beacons of His light for many others.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being that fortified tower we can run to at any time. Help us to consistently seek you before, during and after any difficulties we experience. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
