Troubles
Psalms 34:17 – “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.”

As a teenager, I loved going to youth camp with my church friends. One summer we were at the lake and were playing with a huge inner tube from a tractor tire. We were seeing how many people we could get to stand up on it before it tipped over. It was tons of fun, and our laughter filled the air. The more kids we piled on, the bigger the splash when we all fell off.

One time, however, I ended up on the bottom of the pile, face-down in the mud at the bottom of the lake. I was buried under several others and could not get up. Everything was a tangle of legs and arms and soon I was unable to breathe. The harder I fought to get up, the worse it seemed to get. Suddenly, I felt a strong hand grabbing one of my ankles and dragging me from under the pile. Once I got my head above water, I started gasping for air and spitting out water and mud. Once I could breathe again, I realized that it was one of the pastors who had seen me struggling and came to my rescue. How much more does God want to rescue us from our problems – both big and small. His eyes are always on us, and He sees our struggles. Reach out to Him, and He will pull you from the mud and help you breathe freely again.
