| Ecclesiastes 8:15 – “So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad.” |
My wife and I went to visit my mother today. I was going to go and pick up lunch. We decided on Chick-fil-A. My wife wanted an 8 piece nugget with a side salad and avocado ranch dressing. My mother wanted the same. I drove down the street and got in the drive thru line. I rolled down my window as the car in front of me was ordering. She said “I’ll have 2 side salads with avocado ranch dressing and two 8 count nuggets.”. She ordered the same thing I was about to order. When I got to the pick up window, a young girl asked me if I had 2 side salads and two 8 count nuggets. I assured her that I did. “That was weird. The car in front of you ordered the exact same thing.” Me: “I know. I heard her order it.
I told her that I saw a movie where a guy went into a diner and ordered a sandwich and curly fries. He went to the bathroom and a girl comes in who had phoned in the same thing.” Her: “The Christmas Card! That’s my dad’s favorite movie!”. Me: “My wife and I love it.” Her: “And hot chocolate with…” Me: “Extra marshmallows.” She handed me my food with a big smile. I was smiling too. She forgot to say “My pleasure.” It was ok. It was a special connection we made there. Hard to explain. We both loved an obscure little movie. My day had a smile on it like an exclamation point on a sentence.
Father in heaven, thank You for little moments that light our path, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
