Sometimes we go through trials and our pain is incredible. I can think of a day that every sentence in the above Scripture was experienced. My grandson tripped and fell over his shoelaces at school breaking two of his permanent teeth. As my daughter was driving him to the dentist, he said, ‘mom, I think I broke my arm, too.’ After getting his teeth bonded together, she took him to the ER. He had completely broken two bones in his arm.
My son in law met them at the ER so that my daughter could go pick up the other children from school. After getting the arm set, the boys headed to the Pharmacy and then home. As they turned into their ¼ mile driveway, the three dogs came running out to greet them. One of them lost his footing and fell beneath the truck losing his sweet little life. Their neighbor heard the commotion and upon finding out what happened, came over with his backhoe, dug a hole in a special place on the property and helped to bury their beloved dog, Levi. A disastrous day, yet Elijah’s teeth were fixed, arm was set, and Levi was buried before the family went to bed that night. The rest of the family drove out there the next morning with breakfast and we had a funeral for Levi. God blessed our day together.
We fear the unknown – Will my child’s pain be tolerable? Will his teeth look normal? Will his arm heal without surgery? Will the kids be emotionally okay going through such a traumatic experience? How long will the family be heartsick over this? When our world seems to be falling apart, God is the One Who holds us upright. He gives us what we need for the moment and the strength to carry on. He may send help via angels or neighbors! Regardless of who or what it is, He is sending help! When all is said and done, we have a Holy Spirit that brings us comfort and a peace that is unexplainable. God is good!
Thank You, Lord, for carrying us through our trials. Thank You that we can trust You to uphold us with Your righteous right hand! Thank you most of all for one day taking us to a place where we will never have sorrow again!
