Matthew 6:28-30 – : “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you – ye of little faith?” |
Flowers bring such beauty to this world. From their gentle fragrance to their delicate petals, each one is a thing of beauty. Whether in an elaborate bouquet from a florist or a few blooms snipped from a personal garden, each little flower is a work of wonder. God created these lovely blooms for our enjoyment and pleasure. They bring color, aroma and beauty to the world. While the tightly closed bud is lovely, it’s when the petals begin to unfurl that the true beauty is revealed. Each individual petal is perfectly shaped, its color is rich and its texture is like velvet.
Each of us is like a perfect little rose and just like the rose, God created us, paying attention to every little detail. Just as the tightly closed rose bud is beautiful from its beginning, so we are beautiful from our beginning. As time goes by, we, just like the rose bud as it begins to unfurl its petals, we grow and develop, unfurling our own petals to reveal the special gifts God has given us, each special, each beautiful and each contributing to a beautiful whole with a uniqueness all our own.
How wonderfully we are made and what opportunities God provides that we, just like the rose, can bring a special beauty into the world.
Dear God: Thank you for the beauty you have created and placed in the world for our enjoyment and pleasure. Thank you for making us unique vessels of your love so we may share the world’s beauty and your love with those around us. In Christ’s precious name. Amen.
