Nahum 1:7 – “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” |
When facing challenges due to strained family relationships, financial troubles, health threats, or a myriad of other situations, we can become very focused on obtaining relief and resolution. When faced with troubling situations, we often need to take action to move past the challenge.
Today’s text suggests something we need to first focus on before taking action in response to the situation. It is important to remember three key attributes about the LORD.
The first is He is good. Because His character never changes, He remains good regardless of the challenge ahead of us. Another attribute is He is our refuge in times of trouble. When finding ourselves overwhelmed by the situation, we can cling to the promise “He will shield us with His wings! They will shelter you” (Psalm 91:4). Finally, He cares for those who trust in Him. In times of trouble, our mantra can be “Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him” (Jeremiah 17:7). An action plan starting with focusing on these three attributes of the LORD can be integral in bringing relief and resolution to our challenging situations.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise of caring for those whose trust is in You. Help us to steadfastly remember that You are good and are a refuge when troubling situations are trying to usurp our peace. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
