Acts 4:13 – “When they (the Sanhedrin) saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished, and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” |
It is easy for me to think that I do not have enough religious knowledge to share my faith with others. While I am college-educated and have been in church all my life, I never attended seminary or learned to speak in Greek or Hebrew. I don’t know all of the Bible by heart, nor have I spoken to huge crowds or written best-selling religious books. What do I possibly have to share that would be meaningful, or that does not sound superficial or foolish?
Our verse above tells us that Peter and John (Heroes of our Faith) were just ordinary men, but their impact has lasted for over 2000 years because they had been with Jesus. Fancy words and deep theological thinking are not needed to share Jesus with others – we just need a grateful heart and a desire to see others experience God’s love and peace in their lives. It’s okay that I am just an ‘ordinary girl,” because I have had Jesus speak to me, love me, and save me. My life is not perfect, but God has answered prayers and moved in mysterious ways for me. I cannot imagine living this life without his guidance or facing eternity without Him. That is something that I can share with others.
Prayer: Dear Father, help me not to feel inferior to share my faith, but instead to be bold and confident in what you have given me to speak. Everyone has a story, and each story is important and worthy of hearing. Thank you for loving me, and for giving me opportunities to share that love whenever I can. Amen.
