| John 2:5 – “His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you.'” |
Today’s text is from the story of Jesus’s first miracle, which was the turning of water into wine at a wedding feast (John 2:5-11). The instructions Jesus’s mother gave those wedding servants more than two thousand years ago is still a great mandate for us to follow. Each day is so much more simple and peaceful when we make the choice to just do what Jesus tells us to do. Whether the day is mundane or chaotic, this can be the case.
Learning to do what Jesus tells us to do is a lifelong process, and it starts with becoming familiar with His Word through daily quiet time. The scriptures are filled with His commands and instructions. Studying His Word with other believers helps us better understand His commands and instructions. Additionally, beginning every day by asking for His guidance sets us on the proper trajectory for doing whatever He tells us. Doing so helps us successfully navigate through whatever challenges a day brings. And just like those servants at that long ago wedding feast, we might witness a miracle.
Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to always be joyfully obedient in doing whatever you tell us to do and to accomplish it quickly and without hesitancy. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
