Cardinals and Clear Blue Skies – Psalm 19:1-3

Cardinals and Clear Blue Skies

Psalm 19:1-3 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night revealing knowledge.  Having no speech; using no words; no sound is heard from them.”

Recently a friend asked if I had ever experienced the LORD speaking to me.  I shared that we can hear His voice as we become aware of the ways He communicates with us.

This can be when a scripture from a daily Bible reading fills our hearts with joy and peace.  At other times, it is when the sermon at church is unquestionably applicable to a situation we are currently walking through.  At other times, a phone call from a friend is timed perfectly when needing words of encouragement.

One of the sweetest ways of hearing Him is when no words are used.  Which, in my case, can be either through cardinals or clear blue skies.  There have been numerous times when I am feeling alone, I will spot a cardinal outside my window or during a walk, and I am immediately reminded of His continual and comforting presence.  When overwhelmed by a difficult situation, gazing up at the expansiveness of a clear blue sky speaks volumes to me about the One with whom nothing is impossible.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We are deeply grateful that the LORD of LORDs and creator of everything wants to communicate with us.  Help us to increasingly become adept at hearing Your voice.  In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
