2 Corinthians 13:11 – “Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
Paul writes to the Corinthians in preparation for his upcoming visit. Even in A.D. 55 false information was aplenty. Paul’s life transforming message was true, yet false teachers were challenging his message and authority.
Years ago, when my eyes were opened to Christ as my savior, I heard someone say, “It’s not easy to be a Christian.” At that time, I didn’t understand the statement because I was renewed to the faith and overcome with love for God which didn’t seem hard to love Him. What’s hard about loving God?!?!?
Fast forward years of walking in faith and I better understand the intent of the statement. It’s more than loving God, it’s studying scripture and following His commands for us. If you’re looking for a roadmap of how to follow Christ, heed Paul’s words: God will be with you when you aim for perfection, listen to Him, be of one mind, and live in peace. Easy, right?
