Every Thought – 2 Corinthians 10:5

Every Thought
2 Corinthians 10:5 – “…take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

There was a lady named Corrie Ten Boom. She used to hide jewish people in her house in Haarlem in Holland-back in WW!!. You may have read her book, or maybe have seen the movie about her called “The Hiding Place.” Her and her whole family, hid hundreds of jewish people from the Nazi regime-making the top floor in their house a true hiding place which is still there to this day. Most of her family died in a German concentration camp. Her sister , Betsy, whom she loved dearly, while she was dying in the camp, said to Corrie-“There is no pit so deep, where God’s love is not deeper still. Oh, Corrie, we must tell the world.” She died shortly after, yet Corrie, after losing her father, her  brother, and now Betsy, was released, and went out into the world, just a woman and a bag, and did just that.

I have in these last two years especially, felt the hand of the Lord holding me up, after taking me out of what seemed more than one pit. Whether it be depression, grief, illness, torment of any kind, if we just trust the Lord, He will lift us up every time. Having become a widow, and lost all interest in the things of this world, I also had to turn my heel against the other things I readily turned to, like depression, negativism, and sorrow. These things became a sort of addiction that could be turned by using just one thought. I am learning to “take every thought…”Every” thought in obedience with Christ.  Even if it is just praise “You are still supreme God-Christ is the fullness of The Godhead. You knew I would be going through this well before time even began.”  Like all bad habits, you must let them know you are serious. No matter how long it takes,

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Peter 5:10

Be honest with yourself, and tell Him “everything.” He likes to know you want to willingly, not hide from him, like Adam and Eve did. “My grace is sufficient,” He says”For My power is made perfect-IN weakness.”(2Corinthians 12:9.) Right “in the midst of the mess”-I like to say. When I want to do things I shouldn’t, I tell Him”Lord, I am going to do this.” Now when I tell Him, I wait , and know that He will turn me away from it-sometimes at the last second. And remember, we can sing this together “Hallelujah – I am not alone” I began to make myself say what I knew was the truth-and still do, because lies cannot and will never-stand. Only truth does. And always will.              In Christ. Amen
