| Ephesians 1:19-21 – “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.” |
Have you ever really stopped to think about the immense power that was necessary for God to bring Jesus back to life? After being beaten, bruised and crucified, He was placed in a tomb for three days. His body was denied food and water, his heart was not beating, his brain and vital organs were starved of blood and oxygen. Rigor mortis had certainly set in.
At the appropriate time, with one burst of power from God’s hand, Jesus was brought back to life! I imagine it like a giant defibrillator! His heart started beating, blood was pumping, oxygen began flowing, muscles were moving, and all of his senses and body systems were restored. Leaving the grave clothes behind, he WALKED out of the tomb totally healthy and healed!
As amazing as that is to fathom, Paul tells us in our scripture that we as believers have access to that same power! We are not to feel helpless when life’s trials surround us. We are not to feel defeated when others treat us badly. As children of the King, we are to feel confident and powerful as we confront the daily challenges of this world. Just as God restored life and breath within Jesus, we can be filled with that same power to help restore life and love to those around us.
Oh Lord of Power and Might, we stand in awe at Your amazing strength. We marvel at Your creation of the universe and all within it. We cannot comprehend all that You have accomplished, including raising Jesus from the dead. Thank you for loving us and providing all we need to face the challenges of the world around us. Amen
