2 Timothy 2:15 –“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.” |
I help 4th, 5th, and 6th graders memorize Scripture and am always impressed with how quickly they learn. This morning, in 10 minutes, they learned the Beatitudes, which is eight Scriptures. The above Scripture reminds me of the first Beatitude. ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’ We are poor in spirit, when we are reverent and eager to please the Lord. We realize that without God, we are nothing. The poor in spirit work to receive God’s approval. His endorsement is all we need! We may not learn 8 Scriptures in 10 minutes, but we can certainly make it a point to study and put the meaning of the Scripture on our heart and in our actions. When the Lord comes again, we don’t want to be ashamed for knowing ‘a lot about nothing’ in the Bible. We will be without excuse, because He has put Scripture at our fingertips, so that we might know everything needed to receive God’s sweet approval. As we diligently study Scripture and apply it to our life, we can accurately share the truth. Many rewards are in store for good workers for the Lord.
