The message here is that greed is a form of idolatry. Avoid any strong craving for too many possessions or wanting what others have. It’s only folly with no good contribution toward your eternal life.
On the other hand, cheerful giving reflects God’s generous heart and builds eternal rewards. God blesses us for reflecting His goodness!
God is telling us not to cling to earthly treasures, but to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven!
Lord, give us generous hearts to store up a lasting inheritance!
