| Micah 7:7 – “But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” |
Have you ever delved into the Old Testament book of Micah? A minor prophet who carried a major message of judgement and gloom for rebellious Israelites, Micah, wasn’t one-to-mince words. He faithfully obeyed God’s command to call out flagrant sins and prophesied judgement on Israel’s continual enjoyment of deliberate disobedience, often at the expense of marginalized Israelites. Have you ever spoken to anyone about concern over their sin? What was their response? According to Scripture, we should certainly examine our own selves before calling out someone else’s sin, but what happens if they chose to ignore or downplay God and Scripture? Certainly, continue to witness of God’s mercy, forgiveness and restoration. Micah knew salvation comes only from the true God of Israel and to be swayed elsewhere was a pathway for judgement. Micah’s same proclamation still rings true today. No matter what’s going on around us, we are to look to only God for his constant care and concern over our lives.
