Proverbs 13:12 – “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” |
Waiting for prayers to be answered, resolution of difficult situations, or the sting of disappointments to diminish can rival our desire to remain steadfastly hopeful.
Today’s text describes it accurately, for on the very deepest level we ache when experiencing delays and setbacks concerning our hopes. However, the text acknowledges the sweetness and richness of finally seeing our hopes come to fruition.
When a longing is fulfilled, we rejoice, for He is the One bringing forth good things in His perfect timing. Also, it is a testimony to others and a reminder to us, for when enduring a season of waiting, He unwaveringly remains the source of our hope.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for being our unchanging and steadfast source of hope. Please help us remember when in a season of hope deferred, you remain our comforter, provider and protector. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
