| Isaiah 55:3 – “Hear and come to me; hear, that your soul may live.” |
How Are You Hearing and Seeing?
How fortunate are those of us who can see and hear well! These are senses or abilities we seldom appreciate until there is a problem with one! OR, until we overload from seeing TOO much or hearing TOO much! In our current culture, where it is easy for each of us to be immersed in electronic data, we may feel overloaded Every day by those types of sights and sounds alone!
Interestingly, God, throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible instructs us to “have the eyes to see and the ears to hear “. With this simple, encouraging phrase, God encourages us to ‘see who He is, as written in Romans 1:10, “For ever since the world was created people have SEEN the Earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature. So, there is no excuse for not knowing God”.
Isiah 55:3 records God saying, “Hear and come to me; hear, that your soul may live. In Galatians 3:2, scripture tells us to Hear about God with faith, and we will be open to receiving God’s Spirit.
Unlike the barrage of electronic media flashing before us each day only to be replaced by other media hype the next, seeing God all around us through His fascinating creation and hearing the message He has left for us in scripture lasts and remains the same day after day! So, let your eyes see the reality before you and seek to hear God’s words.
