| Acts 17:28 – “For in him we live and move and have our being, as even some of your own poets have said, “for we are indeed his offspring.” |
The book of Acts describes how the gospel spread after Jesus’s heavenly ascension to God the Father. While speaking to the Jews one day, Paul preached how it was God who made both heaven and earth, and mankind, and he needs nothing from us to ensure his survival or sovereignty to act as he sees fit for his perfect plan.
We humans owe our very lives, heart and soul to God our father because of God the son, Jesus, dying for our sins and making a way for reconciliation with our heavenly father. There’s no way possible we could do this ultimate act of sacrifice ourselves, because we’re sinful.
As we live redeemed lives for the glory of God even the most mundane tasks can remind us that he is the reason we breathe, laugh, work, rest and whatever else our hand finds us doing as we go about this life. Our human worth and dignity is only found in the one who made us and continues to mold us in this life until he calls each one to their heavenly home.
Dear Father, thank you for creating us in your image. We are your handiwork and we have deep value as individuals and as humankind. Thank you for in you we find life, hope, forgiveness and love. Your word reminds us of our worthiness, so help us never to take that for granted. In Jesus’ name, amen.
