| Psalm 28:6-9 – “Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” |
As a little boy I once asked my grandmother if God listened to my prayers or did, he only listen to grownups? She smiled and reminded me that God loves each one of us and hears every prayer. David begins Psalm 28 pleading with God to listen to his prayer. We all wonder if God is listening.
There is such comfort in knowing that God is listening and responding to our heartfelt prayers. He concludes the verses by celebrating what he learned through prayer. God gives mercy and forgiveness, He gives help to the weak, and He gives joy in the heart. Prayer is an invitation for us to discover the goodness of God.
The result of prayer is a growing trust in God. David said, “I trust Him with all my heart.”
