In our line of work, we can use the kindness and love, like God showed us through Jesus Christ, to our co-workers and patients. God sent Jesus to save us and fill us with the Holy Spirit and created us in his image that we may help spread his love, kindness and word. We can show kindness with a little smile or a simple “I will pray for you” or by showing them respect and listening. If you’re not sure what to pray or say, ask the Lord and the Holy Spirit will guide you. Sometimes the Lord tells me through the Holy Spirit to do something, but I am like no I don’t think so, but when I get that second nudge, I become obedient and do as I was told, an example of this:
A couple of months ago, I had just finished a devotion to turn in and I still had my copy of it. We had a patient come in and we were talking about church and that I do prison ministry, and devotionals for BSW and a foundation. I heard in my heart, give them a copy, I said no I don’t do that, and I felt that nudge, so I made a copy of it, and gave it to the couple, the wife read the title and started to tear up, she proceeded to read the devotional. She said you don’t know how much I needed this right now and told me what they were going through it aligned perfectly. We may not understand why we are doing what we are doing but the Lord knows, we need to just trust in him and follow instructions.
They came back a couple weeks later and said that they made copies and handed it out at their church, it doesn’t take a lot to show love and kindness of God and spread his word. We serve a Good God!
Obeying the guidance of the Holy Spirit and Prayer, these are two very strong influences and of course the word will give you instructions, as well.
We don’t deserve it or earn it; we already have it. God saved us through Jesus. Let us all have God-confidence! We are God’s children (heirs).
