My ride is a 2000 Dodge Dakota quad cab. One owner. At nearly 23 years of service and 271,159 miles, it is not a spring chicken anymore. It runs good. No complaints. I am blessed to still be driving it. But the suspension creaks, and it sounds like a worn out mattress as it goes over bumps. People turn and look to see who is the source of the noise. It’s me.
I wanted to fix it, so I went to YouTube. A guy seemed to have the answer. He sprays WD40 Silicone on his control arm bushings. I had a can of Silicone Blaster in the garage, so I gave it a try. I took a test drive. Squeak still there. I thought maybe it would soak in overnight and be better later. The next day, the squeak was gone. Quiet as a mouse today. No stares as I drive by. Old Betsy is like new in that way. It cost me nothing but a few minutes of my time. I already had the can of lubricant. My dad taught me to try to fix things. You don’t know until you have tried.
