| John 1:14 – “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” |
Tuesday, I was looking for Greg. At about 3 he arrived. He was an agent of a company I deal with. He is based in Austin, a few hours away. He was in town to speak at a school district board meeting nearby, and wanted to meet. I have only spoken with him on the phone and by emails. I also deal with Andrea and Scott with his company, so he was coming with greetings from all of them. Maybe you do this too. I come up with a face based on the voice I have heard. I wondered how close I would be. My supervisor (Allison) and I met with him for 20 minutes or so. Then, she had to leave, so Greg and I went back to my office (we had been in the conference room) to chat. As he was leaving, I asked if we could get a photo. I took one of he and I and shared it with Andrea and Scott. I also sent it to my supervisor and to Greg as well. It deepened my relationship with Greg and all of his co-workers, even though it was only Greg who came. It hit me. We like “skin on” relationships so much better. Even after 35+ years of marriage, having emailed and texted my wife all day, it is so much better when I walk in the door and see her face. When she smiles at me, our relationship changes from the one that was going on by long distance all day. It gets so much richer. When I read about “the word became flesh and dwelt among us”, I see why God sent Jesus. Our relationship with God changed at that moment. It got so much better. Father in heaven, thank You for coming close to us, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
