I love orange juice, especially juice with lots of pulp. To me, it’s almost like eating an actual orange. But have you ever poured yourself a big glass only to find that the pulp had all settled to the bottom of the carton? What comes out first is just thin juice with none of the rich goodness. This watered-down liquid is not appealing, but neither is the thickness on the bottom of the container. The only way to ensure that you get a glass that is a nice mixture of juice and pulp is to shake it up first. So it can be with you and me. Sometimes our faith has been inactive and ‘on the shelf’ for so long that the fullness of our testimony has become sluggish. When a crisis happens, unfortunately what flows out of our hearts is a pale version of our ability to recall scripture or to experience God’s peace through His promises. Only by keeping our faith well-stirred by frequent prayer and Bible study are we able to respond to life’s challenges with complete trust and confidence as God intended.
Prayer: Lord of all blessings and truth, I don’t want an inactive faith that has been tucked carefully on the shelf but of no real appeal or value. Keep my heart and soul stirred with Your truths through Bible study and prayer. Flood my mind with wholesome entertainment and activities. Keep my testimony fresh and vibrant, appealing to others, so that I can draw them to you. Amen
