| Psalm 72:18 – “Praise be to the LORD God, God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.” |
Many of us have had the experience of offering up prayers and seeing the LORD answer in powerful ways. Such experiences build up not only our faith, but also the faith of those with whom we are connected. The LORD has unlimited ways through which we can experience powerful prayers. Some of those ways are described below.
The first is by making prayer a lifestyle. Throughout scripture, there are references to being persistent in praying. This can mean praying at the beginning of, ending of, and throughout each day. Some prayers may only be seconds long, while others last minutes or even hours. We can experience powerful prayers when choosing to pray in all circumstances, whether it is for an emerging need or a petition we have lifted up for years. Praying persistently allows us to stay connected with the LORD during both stressful and mundane times.
Powerful prayers can be experienced when staying steadfast in trusting the LORD. We remain certain He hears our petitions and He loves us and is concerned about us. We believe He will answer in a way that is best for ourselves and for those we have entrusted to His care. Even if the answer is delayed, our trust is unwavering. During such times, we can rest in His goodness, remembering He always can be trusted with our petitions to bring forth His powerful response in His impeccable timing.
Today’s text suggests a most compelling way to experience powerful prayers. That is remembering He “alone does marvelous deeds.” When offering up petitions to the One having no equals or rivals, we can rejoice, knowing He can answer us in ways no one else on earth or in heaven is even remotely capable of. Thus, we experience powerful prayers not because of who we are or what our abilities are, but instead because they connect us to the One who is unmatched in wisdom, might, grace, and love.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for always hearing our prayers and answering in ways only You can. Forgive us when we forget that You alone do marvelous deeds, and You have no rival or equal. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
