Matthew 6:9 – “This then is how we should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,'” |
When I read this passage, the words that really stood out to me was “Our Father”. God is Our Father. In this passage, Jesus teaches us how to pray by starting with honoring God the Father first, before we ask anything of him.
Jesus paved the way for us to have a relationship with the Father. We can now go directly to God and call him “Our Father”. He is ready to hear from us. As an earthly father loves and protects his children, God the Father loves us and desires a relationship with us. Before we tell him all about our troubles, let’s remember to honor him first in every one of our prayers. He loves and cares for us, but he also deserves the highest honor.
