Psalms 9: 1-2 – “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O most High.” |
Each morning as we get out of bed, we have a choice. That choice will be to be grateful for another day or grumble about our circumstances. Choosing to be grateful to our Father for the safe sleep granted during the night, the ability to receive the new day with the security of salvation, and the ability to get on with the routine of our day are all truly things to be thankful for. Now I realized that not everyone has the same experience in the morning. There are many in our midst who have physical or mental issues that prevent them from the above mentioned, but none the less, choose to be grateful to a loving God! Not only should we receive our day with grateful hearts, but we should be glad to share the blessings with those around us. A word of encouragement, a smile, or a simple heart felt “good Morning,” could be all that someone needs to start their day with gratitude as well. Sharing God’s goodness towards us with others is not only mandated by scripture but it serves as a reminder to ourselves to thank our Heavenly Father for all things! In this time of the year when we are preparing for the Thanksgiving season, let’s make it a time of rejoicing for past and present blessing and at the same time remember those in our communities who are in need.
