Luke 5:13 – “And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him.” |
Love can be hard to describe. Kind of like faith. Instead of defining it with words, it can best be summed up in people sometimes. And it is definitely best felt. When I was afraid as a young boy, I didn’t want to hear reassuring words, I wanted to feel a hug. We end weddings with “you may now kiss your bride”. We seal it with a kiss. At happy moments of good news, my wife and I feel this need to hug each other. Love’s expressions can be felt. If we comfort someone who is grieving, we may touch their shoulder, pat them, grab their hand in both of ours and gently squeeze, or hug them. So how does an invisible spirit, our God, show love to us? He sent His Son in His place. He became flesh. It was important. Because He touched a leper, mixed His spittle and dirt and applied it to a blind man’s eyes, took children into His arms and blessed them, extended his pierced hand to Thomas so he could believe and doubt no longer. God sent His son to show His love for us. Father in heaven, thank You for touching us through Your son, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
