| Psalm 91:7-8 – – “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.” |
During a late afternoon thunderstorm, I glanced out my kitchen window while preparing supper. What I observed was pounding rain and fierce wind whipping the branches of the trees in the backyard. I was grateful our sturdy house provided protection from the chaos right outside my window.
Later that evening, while gazing through the window at a now tranquil scene, I still felt there was a storm raging. It had nothing to do with the weather; instead, it was due to several troubling situations. These included financial concerns, a family member in a difficult marriage, and another with health issues.
The more I focused on these concerns, the more overwhelmed and helpless I felt. It was only when I paused my troubling thoughts to pray I was reminded the LORD provides protection even when troubling situations loom right outside the window.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us remember when feeling overwhelmed or threatened due to looming difficulties we can always turn to You for protection. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
