Season of New Beginnings – Isaiah 43:18-19

Season of New Beginnings

Isaiah 43:18-19 – “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.  See I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Fields of wildflowers, sightings of birds busy tending to their chicks, and longer and warmer days are just a few reasons to love spring.  Each speaks of spring being a season of new beginnings.  Fortunately, a new beginning is not just limited to one season of the year.  Such life events as becoming a newlywed, having a baby, starting a different job, or stepping into a leadership role within the community can bring in a season of new beginnings.

Today’s scripture reveals an important action for us to undertake to more richly embrace and enjoy a new beginning.  We are urged to not linger in the past.  Things such as bitterness, unforgiveness and old mindsets should not crowd out the joy and freshness offered by a new beginning.  Choosing to focus on stepping forward helps us deeply immerse ourselves in the blessings the LORD has for us when in a new season.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being the One who brings us new beginnings, whether through the season of the year or in circumstances in our lives.  In all seasons of our lives, help us to let go of bitterness, unforgiveness and old mindsets.  In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
